Brahmanandam (born February 1, 1956 in Andhra Pradesh) is a popular Telugu film comedian-actor. He first started his career with popular Telugu director, Hasya Brahma Jandhyala. His impeccable comedy timing quickly took him to new heights and now is one of the most respectable comedians in the history of telugu cinema.
Brahmanandam has earned a place in the Guiness Book of World Records for acting in a phenomenal 754 Telugu films in a career spanning 20 years. Dr Brahmanandam confirmed that he got the official confirmation on Wednesday from the Guinness Foundation.

Prior to movies, he was a Telugu lecturer in the town of Sattenapalli, a rural town in the state of Andhra Pradesh. He began his filming career with popular Telugu director and writer, Jandhyala's Aha Na Pellanta in which Rajendra Prasad played the lead role. Owing to his comic abilities, he is now one of the most respected comedians in the history of Telugu cinema.
Every year he acts in a minimum of 35 films, for the past 22 years. According to him, Jandhyala was the best comedy director he has ever worked with. He is presently writing a book based on his experiences in the film industry.
Brahmanandam spoke on the occasion along with many others. After he finished his speech, Dev Anand asked Brahmanandam to sit besides him and complimented him for his speech. Dev Anand also praised the acting skills of Brahmanandam and said that he enjoyed watching him doing comedy. The praise has sent Brahmanandam literally over the moon. Family
He has two sons and the elder son Gautam has been introduced to the Telugu film industry through Pallakilo Pellikooturu. The film is directed by renowned choreographer and writer, Chandrabose's wife Suchitra
Awards
- Acharya Nagarjuna University awarded Brahmanandam with honorable doctorate award.
- He has been selected for 2005 year's Allu Award instituted in the memory of Allu Rama Lingaiah. On October 1, 2005, the award was presented to him at a function in Hyderabad. The award consists of a Swarna Kankanam (Translation: Gold bracelet), a citation and a souvenir.
- He recently earned a spot in the Guinness World Records for acting in 754 Telugu films in 20 years.
