Ghattamaneni Sivarama Krishna Murthy (born on the May 31, 1943), more commonly referred to as
Krishna, is one of Tollywood's most prolific actors, having acted in more than 350 movies. He is credited with introducing many firsts in Telugu film Industry like first Colour movie, first Cinemascope movie, first 70mm movie, first Cowboy movie, etc. He is a great super star in telugu film industry.

Special on 4 glorious decades of Superstar Krishna
March 31st of 2005 marks 40 glorious years of Superstar Krishna. Exactly 40 years ago, Adurti Subbarao's Tenemanasulu, made with all new cast, hit the theaters. This film went on to become a big hit. The hero of the film Ghattamaneni Krishna had to never look back. Superstar Krishna marked many landmarks in the Tollywood history starting from his first film. He is one of the rare heroes who delivered a blockbuster in the debut film. He is very experimental and the first ever hero to introduce cowboy and James bond style to Telugu screen. He is very generous and kindhearted that he helped many producers and directors.
Till date Krishna has done 330 films. His 100th film is Alluri Sitaramaraju, 200th film is Ennadu and 300th film is Teluguveera Levara. During this 40 years of his cine life, Krishna became the part of key milestones in the industry. He is also the trend setter. He is the hero of the first Telugu detective film Gudachari 116. He is the hero of the first Telugu cowboy film - Mosagallkau Mosagadu. He played Jamesbond in Agent Gopi. He is known as Andhra Jamesbond during that time. Alluri Sitarama Raju, which stood as a mile stone in the carrer of Krishna, is the first color scope film. Also, the first 70 MM film is produced and directed by Superstar Krishna - Simhasanam. Simhasanam is the first film for Krishna as director.
Krishna is born as Ghattamaneni Sivarama Krishna Murthy on 31st May, 1943. Krishna is from Burripalem of Tenali Dist. After finishing his high school in Tenali and intermediate in Narsapur, Krishna moved to Eluru CRR college to finish his degree in BSc. He got married to Indira Devi on 1st January of 1962. Ramesh Babu, Mahesh Babu, Padmavati, Manjula and Priyadarshini are his children.
Superstar Krishna established Padmalaya studios and the studio was inagurated on 21-11-1983. Krishna played a key role in Tollywood as an actor, producer, director, distributor and exhibitor. Known as Ajatasatruvu in the industry, Krishna gets the credit of working most number of multistarrers - more than 50. Krishna also acted in many political targeted movies. During Rajiv Gandhi times, he was inclined towards Congress and even won from the Eluru constituency. After the death of Rajiv Gandhi, Krishna quit politics.
In his career of 330 films, Krishna acted 31 in the direction of KSR Das and 28 films in the direction of Vijaya Nirmala. Coming to the heroines, Vijayanirmala acted the most number of films - 47, followed by Jayaprada (43), Sridevi (31).
It is not an exaggeration to say that Krishna has got the most loyal fans in the Telugu Cinema world. He truly deserves that. We wish Superstar Krishna many more glorious decades in Tollywood.
